Come along to our completely free Photography Open Evening and spend an evening discovering what photography is really about, learning a few things, taking some photos, meeting new people and having a bit of fun along the way. No expensive camera. No experience. No pressure. Just bring your curiosity.

An Evening of Discovery with ZERO PRESSURE

Come along and discover just how much fun a photography course can be.
You’ll take photos, learn something new, meet some great people and hopefully leave with a smile.

  1. 1 7:00pm

    Tea, coffee, hellos

    Arrive, grab a drink and meet the people you’d be learning alongside. Most turn up on their own, you won’t be the only one.

  2. 2 7:20pm

    Your camera tips

    Whatever you’ve brought, we’ll get it off auto and give you some valuable tips and advice, show you the three settings that change everything

  3. 3 8:00pm

    Actually take photos

    A short hands-on exercise. You’ll leave with a shot you’re pleased with and an idea of why it worked.

  4. 4 8:40pm

    Questions, then home

    What the six-week course covers, how it runs, what it costs. Ask anything. Book if you want to — there’s no expectation.

Who comes along

Looking for a new hobby? Always wanted to try photography?

You don’t need to know anything about photography to come along. Most people who walk through the door own a camera they don’t really understand, or they’ve been taking pictures on their phone and want to get better. Both are perfect. Nobody is going to ask what lens you own.

The six-week
Level 1 course

The open evening is a taster of how we teach. If it suits you, Level 1 is where most people start — six weeks, one evening a week, small group, plenty of time outdoors with your camera.

No decision needed on the night. Come along, see what you think, and book later if you want to. Places on the next intake are held for people who attend.

Before you ask

The usual questions

Is it really free?

Completely. There’s no charge and nothing to pay on the night. We’d rather you came and saw how we teach than took a punt on a £325 course sight unseen.

I only have my phone. Should I still come?

Yes — and you won’t be alone. Plenty of people start on a phone. Everything we teach about light and composition applies whatever you’re shooting on, and we’ll help you decide whether buying a camera is even worth it.

Will I be pressured into booking?

No. We’ll explain what the six-week course involves and answer questions, then you go home and think about it. If it’s not for you, that’s genuinely fine.

I don’t know anyone. Is that awkward?

Most people come on their own. Ten minutes in, everyone’s talking about their camera and it sorts itself out.

What should I bring?

Your camera or phone, a charged battery and any lenses you own. If you can find the manual, bring that too — nobody has ever read theirs and we can show you the bits that matter.

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course. Just add them when you register so we know how many chairs to put out.
